From an approximate 5000 works from the Takashimaya Historical Museum, around 100 have been carefully selected to be exhibited together. These works center on the major figures in Kyoto art circles like Takeuchi Seiho, Yokoyama Taikan and recipients of the Order of Culture. The artworks encompass historical records of dyeing, weaving, and characteristic design, along with masterpieces by Japan’s leading artists. This is the first opportunity to introduce the Takashimaya collection in Kyoto, the city in which the department store was founded. In addition, Takashimaya’s deep connections with the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art are made evident along with developments in modern art.
